Anita's Animal Adoptions

Anitas Animals Puppies AjijicThe most heart-felt way to help Anita's Animals is to adopt a kitten/cat or puppy/dog and make it a part of your family. Anita has a wide variety of cats and dogs wanting to become a member of your family.

They come in a whole variety of “breeds”, ages, sizes, colors and personalities.

Anita occasionally will have a rescued pure bred cat or dog. However, most rescued cats and dogs in Ajijic / Lakeside, are a Mexican-mixed breed - that is, part [ more identifiable ] pure breed and  part unknown breed. What is common to the Mexican-mix breed,  are that these cats / dogs are very smart, loving and ever so grateful to have you in their life, and they will show this returned love to you in many ways.

Make an effort to see these cats & dogs less with your eyes, and more with your heart. Try not to focus so much on that one particular breed you have always had or think you want. Let your heart guide you.  Your heart will not fail you - you will find the right one for you.

There is no official fee for adopting any of Anita's cats or dogs, but, a donation is most appreciatively accepted.  This donation will help offset some of the expenses of food, vaccination costs, medical care, daily care, etc... until a home is found for the cats and dogs that come under Anita’s care.

The local website:  lakechapaladogcenter [Lake Chapala Dogs available for adoption]  has dog [only] adoption listings. Those posted photos are just some of the dogs available. Pictures are taken every two weeks at Anita's. Pictures of those dogs taken on previous weeks are updated,  i.e.: with a note the dogs has been adopted. The pictures of  those dogs posted without an adopted notice are still available for adoption  ... so the pictures are current and updated.

It is best to contact Anita to know about what dogs she currently has available rather than rely on posted pictures to find a possible cat or dog to add to your family. Anita does not have a computer, so giving her an identifying number associated with the posted picture does not make it possible for her to identify that dog. Many times there are many dogs that look very much alike. Saying “do you still have that ‘a cute white fluffy dog’ ”??  Is not very specific. This description can refer to as many as four or five dogs that she has with her. The best way to find your family pet is to go for a visit, and see what cat / dog looks like “THE one” [or two].

A local lakeside website: Chapala.com Webboard [Forum: Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara]  has periodic animal adoption postings under the heading of - 'Anita's Animals' - free cat and  dog adoption. There are photos and stories about just some of the cats / dogs that are available at Anita's Animals.

Sadly, Anita has an almost continuous flow of in-coming pets that are available for adoption. Likewise, Anita is very successful in finding caring and loving homes for many of her cats and dogs. She has gotten to know many local people for many years and sometimes even several generations within the same family.  It is best to contact Anita to know about what cats/dogs she currently has available rather than rely on picture posting to find a possible cat or dog to add to your family.

If you are interested in a particular “type” of cat or dog, i.e.  age, “breed”-mix,  size, gender,  etc.. contact  Anita  and  give  her your desired animal “type” request with your contact information, and she will contact you  if she receives a cat or dog that is similar /  like your request.

Here are some good reasons to adopt a dog or cat from Anita's Animals:

  1. Studied have proven that “pet therapy” enables people to relax.
  2. Tests have shown that a family pet reduces your heart rate and blood pressure.
  3. Animals accept you without qualification.
    • They don't care how you look
    • What car you drive
    • Ask how much money you have
    • Upset if you don’t remembered their birthday
    • and the list goes on
  4. An animal's acceptance is:
    • non-judgmental
    • forgiving
    • uncomplicated
    • always happy to see you
    • accepts you the way you are
